Calculators / Appliance fit

Will the washer and dryer fit?

Measure the space wall to wall, back wall to the door, and up to any shelf. Add the narrowest doorway on the way in. You'll see which sets fit.

Side-by-side pairs

    Fits

Room for the hoses, the vent and the air the dryer pulls in.

  • Whirlpool WFW5720RW + WED5720RREach 27 in wide, 39 in tall. Space 58 in W × 39⅝ in D × 39 in H
    Fits

Room for the hoses, the vent and the air the dryer pulls in.

Sizes and clearances from LG and Whirlpool spec sheets and manuals. Check the sheet for the model you buy.

Closet door

A closed door needs vents: at least 48 sq in up high and 24 sq in down low, per LG and Whirlpool. A louvered door works. Leave 3 in between the machines and the door.

Floor

Measure the depth at the floor. Baseboard, the water box and a dryer vent elbow all eat into it.

How we work it out

We add the clearances from each maker's install sheet to the machines and compare that to your space.

width = machines + 1 in at each side of each machine

depth = machine + room behind for the vent and hoses (+ 3 in to a closet door)

stacked height = stack + 6 in on top

doorway = narrow side of the machine + 1 in

A full-size 27 in pair side by side takes 58 in of width at LG's numbers. Whirlpool lets you go with no side gap, but you trade it for noise and a hard hookup.

A closet with a door needs vents in the door, 48 sq in up high and 24 sq in down low. LG wants doors and halls on the way in at least 30 in wide.
