Calculators / Appliance fit

Will the dishwasher fit under your counter?

Measure the opening width, the height from the floor to the underside of the counter, and the depth to the wall. You'll see which sizes fit.

These are example numbers. Put in yours.

Hookup

Most dishwashers ship without the water line, the 90 degree fitting or the power cord. Get the kit before install day.

Corners

Next to a corner, leave 2 in to the side wall so the door clears the drawers and handles.

Sink

Keep it within 36 in of the sink edge. That's the NKBA guideline, and it keeps drips off the floor.

How we work it out

We check your opening against the cutout makers ask for in their install sheets.

standard: 24 in wide × 33⅞ to 35 in tall × 24 in deep

short tub (ADA): 24 in wide × about 32½ to 34 in tall

compact: 18 in wide, same height and depth

Most 24 in units are 23 9/16 to 23⅞ in wide, so a slightly narrow opening can still take the slimmest ones. The legs adjust for height, but only so far.

Putting in a new floor later? Measure from the new floor height. Tile laid around a dishwasher can trap it, so run the floor under the dishwasher spot.
