The 15 counter-depth fridges we check run 31¼ to 36 in wide, 69⅛ to 72 in tall and 26¼ to 29⅝ in deep without handles. In a standard 25½ in counter run, they sit 2½ to 6¼ in past the counter front.

Counter-depth still sticks out

Counter-depth means the case lines up with the cabinets. The doors and handles still sit in front, and the maker wants a gap behind. That's why these run 26¼ to 29⅝ in deep and still sit a few inches past the counter. Only built-in fridges sit dead flush, and they cost a lot more.

Before you buy

Measure the narrowest door on the way in, too. A fridge that fits the opening can still get stuck in the hall. Will it fit through a 30 in door?
