We used 20 sq ft a box as a placeholder. It varies by brand and plank size, so put in the number off the label.
Floating floors need a gap at every wall, hidden under the baseboard. The box gives the width.
How we work it out
sq ft = length × width (plus the second part of an L-shaped room)
boxes = sq ft × 1.10 ÷ sq ft per box, rounded up
Use 15% instead of 10% for herringbone or a diagonal lay. Box coverage varies by brand and plank size, so put in the number off the label; we use a placeholder until you do. Tile works here too.
